Tour of North America with the China NCPA Orchestra
This month, Feng joins the China NCPA Orchestra and conductor Lü Jia for a tour of North America. Feng performs Zhao Jiping’s Violin Concerto No.1 on the tour, part of an eclectic set of programmes that also feature Brahms Symphony No.4, Sibelius Symphony No.2 and two modern concertos: Chen Qigang’s Reflet d’un temps disparu for cello and orchestra with Gautier Capuçon, and American composer Lou Harrison’s Pipa Concerto, which spotlights the traditional Chinese instrument.
The tour begins with a send-off concert at the NCPA in Beijing on 21 October, after which Feng and the orchestra travel to the United States. Their first concert, at Chicago’s Symphony Center, takes place on 28 October, after which they visit Carnegie Hall in new York on 30 October, the Verizon Hall in Philadelphia on 1 November and the Memorial Hall in Chapel Hill, North Virginia on 2 November.
Elsewhere this month, Feng also performs Paganini Violin Concerto No.1 with the Korean Chamber Orchestra on 11 October and also gives two recitals of works by Bach, Bruch, Chausson and Vladigerov with pianist Mao Xiangyu in Shanghai.
